Heading North Lab

Heading North Lab is the hands-on side of my career change. Instead of collecting isolated exercises, I’m building one infrastructure on my own Proxmox server and making it grow as my DevOps training goes on: virtualisation, network segmentation, hardening, CI/CD, containers, infrastructure as code, monitoring, and finally detection.

Why one long-running lab rather than separate tutorials?

  • Everything connects. Each phase builds on the previous ones, like in a real company: what I set up in phase 2 has to survive phases 3 to 12.
  • Every choice has a reason. The lab follows the needs of a fictional company, so each technical decision answers a concrete problem.
  • Mistakes are part of it. I document what worked, what broke and what I learned.

The articles below are in order: start with the first one and follow the project step by step.
